The UTHSC Department of Urology recognizes that treating prostate cancer is more than just managing the cancer— it’s about someone’s overall well-being. Sexual health is a part of this, so it needs to be addressed as an essential part of care. This quality-of-life issue contributes to good overall health. Maintaining your sexual health contributes to positive health outcomes, increased connection, confidence, and happiness, making it a vital piece of your cancer journey.
To address this, Dr. Jennifer Valli created Intimacy Matters, an educational program designed to help patients navigate the sexual health challenges of prostate cancer treatment. It is hosted by the UTHSC’s Department of Urology and facilitated by Dr. Valli. The Department has graciously opened this up to not only their patients but also to those in the community. Participants will understand prostate cancer’s impact on different aspects of sexual response and strategies for navigating intimacy-related challenges.
